| Cindy Jones is a UK artist producing figurative sculptures, working predominately with clay and plaster and sometimes in stone. Large hand built (coiled) female sculptures feature in the current on-line portfolio, and mould techniques are exploited and combined with mixed media elements in the relief structures. The imagery is influenced by many sources. The appreciation of the sculpture of Michelangelo, Rodin, Brancusi, Arp, Laurens, Degas, Manzù, Cornell and Nicola Hicks is ever present. The paintings of Egon Schiele, Matisse, Bonnard, Wyeth, Freud, Tàpies, Giacometti and Ben Nicholson are equally important. So is the Japanese use of materials and aesthetics in their Fine Arts and Crafts. Life class drawing is also an integral activity to explore and inform the experience of working on figurative themes mainly in a naturalistic style. Art work is sold in galleries, and is in private and public collections, and commissions are accepted. |
